Fort William – Our Town

Fort William (in Gaelic An Gearasdan  or “The Garrison” which is Scots for The Fort) is a town in Lochaber in the Scottish Highlands located on the eastern shore of Loch Linnhe and at the foot of Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis.  The main town centre has been pedestrianised and now boasts an events area in the centre of the town where, in the summer months, some events are often planned to entertain both locals and tourists.

Bank Street Lodge is situated just off the main High Street in Fort William which makes it an ideal base from which to enjoy the facilities and hospitality venues in the town centre.

The newly built Fort William Cinema  is located in the town square as the extremely interesting West Highland Museum. both of which are well worth a visit if the weather is inclement.

Fort William is also a major centre for walking and climbing activities due to how close we are to Ben Nevis. There’s also plenty to do for less adventurous, you can ride Harry Potters Hogwarts Express (a.k.a The Jacobite Steam Train), take a scenic boat tour on Loch Linnhe and just enjoy some Highland hospitality in our many great restaurants and bars.

Fort William has it all, so start planning your perfect Highland holiday today!
